The Opposite of Books

By JackiOh • December 23rd, 2007

Okay. You guys tell me what is the opposite of books.

No, don’t.

I will tell you.

MOVIES!

It is the holidays, in case you didn’t notice. I love the holidays.

But I only know two holiday books. One, “This Time it Will Be Different,” I reviewed last year. The other, “Holidays on Ice,” there is no way I could do justice to it at all. Maybe I will try next year.

I decided I would give you guys a list of my top ten Holiday movies, in a particular order.

10. Die Hard. I love Die Hard, all four of them. This is the only series I have seen every single one in the theatre. It was an odd sort of tradition that me and my dad had.

9. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The real cartoon-y one. Not the piece of shit Jim Carrey One. Special shout out to the episode of Just Shoot Me, “How the Finch Stole Christmas.”

8. Home Alone. I think you are broken if you don’t enjoy this movie. Utterly and completely broken.

7. The Ref. Two words. Kevin Spacey. Two more. Dennis Leary.

6. Mixed Nuts. I am a dork. I adore Steve Martin. AND! This has Parker Posey.

5. White Christmas. Warm and/or fuzzy.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas. This one always tricks me… is it Christmas? Is it Halloween? I don’t know or care, but it is wonderful. And! See it in 3d!

3. The Charlie Brown Christmas Special. When I was a little girl, I wouldn’t go anywhere without my Snoopy doll. So, I love all the Charlie Brown specials by default. I really wish I had a Snoopy doll now. :(

2. Scrooged! I know the acting is terrible and the story is tired. I get angry after every time I watch it, cause “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” ALWAYS gets stuck in my head. You know what, though? I don’t care. I love this movie.

1. Love, Actually. Now, I know a lot of people wouldn’t even consider this to be a Christmas movie. I don’t see how it couldn’t be. It starts with a Christmas song and takes place during the Holidays. And, everytime I watch it, I feel Christmas-y.

What are some of y’alls favorites?

  1. I love “A Carol Christnas,” a Tori Spelling remake of A Christmas Carol. Deliciously cheesy!

  2. A Christmas Story isn’t even in your top 10?? Sacrilege!!!
