Winter Rumblings

By Rican • December 9th, 2007

We are in the home stretch of the 2007 NFL season, and it goes like this: Romo is playing WAAAAY above his level and will come back down to Earth with a thud, Fah-vre is old, and the Pats will lose 2 games before all is said and done. Miami Dolphins 27-Pats 24, Giants 31-Pats 17. You read it here first, bitches.

As for those New York Football Giants, thank GOD Eli “Constipation Face” Manning finally remembered he is a #1 draft pick in the 4th quarter against the Bears. His heroics won yours truly a $300 autographed Lawrence Taylor jersey (thanks Carm!!), and more importantly, gave the Giants momentum as they fight against their usual 2nd half of the season collapses. We have tons of football remaining, but the G-Men are in great shape as only one of their remaining opponents is sniffing anywhere near a winning record, let alone a playoff spot.

On to baseball…I am glad my Yankees saw the light and are not mortgaging their future for Mr. Santana, especially with the return if Any “Big Game” Petitte. The way I see it, Any gives you 15 wins per season on average. In a good year, Santana gets you 20. Is it worth giving up THREE of your TOP prospects, PLUS your starting center fielder for 5 extra wins? Not in my book. When all is said and done, either the Twins will come to their senses and take one of the existing offers, or Gretchen will have to be talked down from a rooftop somewhere as her beloved Sux deal away Hiawatha Ellsbury for Santana. Either way, Yanks look good.

Speaking of, DAMN Detroit surprised everyone with their steal of Cabrera and Willis. Is it me, or is the total payroll for the Marlins less than the actual cost of a ticket to get in and see them play?

Only 35 days until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training, kids…

  1. Uh, leave my boyfriend outta this… and he signed with the Devil too, ala A-Rod.

Last week was a ROUGH week… really rough, almost became a Twins fan.

    Whew!

oh and per my countdown clock….its 66 days til pitchers & catchers… 2/14/08 (sox are a bit early because of the Japan trip).

We should do a spring training trip… the Sox & Cranks are playing at Legends this year… full squad!

  2. Giants are three games behind Dallas in the NFC standings. Dallas is in second place overall for NFL rankings. Just wanted to point that out…and baseball is boring. ;)
