The Harbinger

So, there’s camping at Alexander Springs over the Labor Day weekend. I’m boogyin’ up there Friday after work. Stuff is on the menu, and my nieces (4 and 6) will be there. Menu isn’t much of anything, really, but I know that the girls haven’t ever had banana boats.

TigerLily has, though.

This is an alternative to the S’more. Everyone knows what that is, right? Toasted marshmallows on graham crackers with a smidgen of melted Hershey bar. Cinnamon graham crackers are the adult version, don’chaknow.

So I’m going to give these girls a new treat ~ Banana Boats.

RECIPE

Peel one portion of the banana peel back… Peel it back… HA! Don’t take it off, though, it’ll be a blanket for the goodies to cum…uhhh… COME. Goodies. To come. Err, FROM THE CAMPFIRE…

Scoop a bit of the nanner out with a spoon and fill that void ~OY!~ Fill the scooped out portion with choco chips, Hershey bar bits OR what I’m bringing this time: Reece’s Bits (insert appropriate trademark insignia here). Add other stuff you wanna eat, like pecan pieces, baby marshmallows, or … sausage. Sausage is good when ya peel it… WAIT! *CRAP* We’re talking hot bananas here, folks… *shutter* WHY do I keep thinking of hot snawsages?

45 Minutes Later:

OHHHHHHHhhhhhKAY!

Foil. Aluminium (all u MIN e um) foil. Wrapped around the nanners (or not, I’ve seen examples of both versions) and onto the coals. 20 minutes.

Unwrap. Peel off that top portion of that banana peel… and eat with a spoon.

It’s so sweet it’ll hurt your teeth!
