The freedom of speech is important. It allows us as U.S. citizens to show the governing bodies that we are unhappy, concerned or just plain pissed off. It is used in art of all kinds. It’s what makes the U.S.A. different than most of the world. Our forefathers were smart dudes who knew their shit. And without it The Harbinger, nay the entire Muche community, would not exist.

With that being said, does that give us the right as citizens of The Mooch to hurt others with our words? Does it give us carte blanche to alienate and chastise without restraint? Dangerous trolls and “respected” members run rough-shod over the souls of their fellow humans. There are words left unchecked. Malicious rants protected. All for the sake of “growth”.

At what cost?

The loss of valuable members and friends. That’s what.

Fine people of every incarnation of the “bored” have been run off because of the bludgeoning personal attacks and overall mean spirited “characters” that are allowed to roam our halls. I’m not talking about “negative people” in general. You need negatives to accentuate the positives. And don’t get me wrong, I love a good “You, sir, are a cack sucking douchebag”, or “Lick my large, hairy testes, madam”. But don’t we, as clear thinking adults realize that there is a line and that one should not overstep said line?

Where is the line, you ask? Right fucking here ______ . See how clear that is?

Rules. Laws. Statutes. As individuals, as well as a body of people, we need them. Anarchy and Nihilism are sooooo overrated. We need a strong, intelligent hand to guide us and to squash the demons that come to tear down the neighborhood that we have so obsessively worked to maintain. You want growth? Try picking up and taking out the trash once in a while. Weed the garden. Prune the bushes. Just do something. You have mods begging for an S.O.P. Isn’t that at least a sign that something needs to change?

Moderators, administrators and the always feared, all-powerful Despot alike, please take note.
