The Pour

The Pour
118 S. Orange Ave., Orlando

The story we got behind this place was it was dubbed Red Square years back and had this huge red couch in the back and was the best place in town. It got closed down allegedly for some drug issues and later reopened as “The Pour”. It’s a hallway like set up with a long well-staffed bar and barstools. At the back of the room-the place of the red couch-there were a few stools. Unfortunately the red couch was removed. My friends were so disgusted by this fact (must have been one helluva couch!) that they wanted to leave but others had already had a drink so we had one, too. I was sticking with my beer (so I’d remember to share with you fine folks) and asked what they had. She pointed to a short row about 30 feet down the bar that even with my glasses on I couldn’t make out so I started asking for some favorites. When I realized it was mostly american brews I said “amber bock?” and I got a no. I was listed “bud, bud light, coors light, miller lite…Then I saw the familiar Heineken and said “Heineken?” and the response was “Heineken light!” *sigh* whatever, ok. I guess I could stand to save a few calories and taste was not as important at this part of the night. The bathrooms here were at the end of the “hall”. Single stalls (one for each gender) that seemed to have unisex-styled crisscrossing all night depending on what was open. The stalls were clean and large but occassionally we saw lines 1-2 deep. Overall the bar was fine but lack of beer selection and space made it not as good as some others I’ve been to. I guess the couch was the reason to go but because of the good service and small pub friendly atmosphere people come back…The mixed drinks here were supposed to be the best we had had that night though-maybe that’s their thing. Oh, and if you’re looking for the cool spot look for my nicely bald friend spinning around to the music under the vent back by the bathrooms. Man, that felt good…

Ratings: Service 4-although a long bar it was well staffed and only had to wait a moderate amount of time but at least was given a head shake that she knew I was waiting and she remember our name

Drinks 4-beer selection was nil but since the rave reviews came in about the mixed drinks I will raise it to a 4

Atmosphere 2-not much special-just a long bar with some seats

Restrooms 3-clean and sizeable but single stalls can cause problems

Overall 3.5
