Rhoadrunner, Part Deux?
By md • June 17th, 2007Let me tell you guys about my friend Paulie G. Most of you know him as Rhoadrunner, but he has been Paulie G to me going on three years now. He is currently serving a term of indeterminate legnth as Monster Militia President. He has been married to HotPants for almost twenty whole years now. For a great deal of those twenty year, he has been a chronic and monster fan and friend to us all. In honor of the ridiculously busy Rhoadrunner, here is a collection of muchedumbre memories:
KlingonChick:
Paul has been my friend for so long it’s hard to think of a specific RR memory. He and Shannon where two of the first people I met when I joined “the club”. He would include me in the conversation when I first started and gave me people’s names and some background so I would know who they are. I can remember being over his house on night for a get together and being quite surprised and impressed with his ability to handle tequila, particularly since I had to scratch it off of my list of things I can drink. I guess what sticks out most about my friend besides the way he is kind to everyone is the way he can handle me and Shannon when we get buzzed and start meshing and competing at the same time. The man has the patience of a saint!
Gator_Jen: He has helped kick people I hate out of chat
MtDoraDave:
My “fond Rhoadrunner memory” is from my first Hard Rock Live show I went to. I was very excited to finally attend this event (and the after party @ the hotel), but I didn’t want to spend a ton of cash on $5+ beers, so I snuck a flask of vodka in my sock. Being a fairly accomplished drinker, I wasn’t worried that I could possibly drink too much, since it was only a pint…and I only had a few of the $5 beers all night… but somehow I managed to get blackout drunk, and then quite ill. (I pity the cleaning crew that had to clean the carpets upstairs). After the show, Rhoadrunner, WillBear, and Road Warrior practically carried me back to the hotel, while Shannon kept people from taking photos. Paul and Shannon took care of me that evening at the hotel, as well. I don’t remember much from that night, but I do remember what good people these were for taking care of me, a relatively new guy to the group.
MustangSally:
Paul is always so nice to everyone. He is friendly and kind too everyone in chat, and greets everyone by name. He makes everyone feel welcome. I really admire these qualities in him.
EKG:
Paul is always great to just sit and hang out with. I don’t know him off the board very well and me and Shannon used to not get along to well, But whenever I would see Paul he would smile, give me a hug and treat me like a long lost sister. It’s never like being around a person you’ve only ‘talked’ to a handful times, he makes it comfortable and like we ‘talk’ every day. I always look forward to seeing him when I go to a gathering. He’s great guy!
SunshineLvr73:
He’s not only a militia pres he’s a superhero!
DumbFuckJones:
There was the time he came out for happy hour and got so drunk because he was trying to keep up with the king. And Shannon had to pick his drunk ass up. Details are hazy.
Civilized Redneck:
Jessica Rabbit
Man fries a mean turkey.
MyBig:
I never had a deep fried turkey untill I had Pauls at Camp Chronic. Now I have had parts of 20 or more all cooked by Paul. It is now the only kind of turkey I like. But, I guess the very very best thing about Paul is…
Shannon, what a hottie and a sweetheart.
MamaJuggs:
Paul’s the most patient turkey fryer in the WORLD!
I am sensing a pattern here. Even when we first met a lot of people, Medders called Paulie “The Turkey Guy.” Now, he knows Rhoadrunner to be the great president, friend, husband to HotPants and just plain all around good guy that we do. We love you, Paulie!

Awe… I feel honored… moistened my eyes and made me blush (especially since my father-in-law was reading over my shoulder!).
Thanks guys! I’ll have to put this week’s spotlight on hold (the research was harder than I thought would be), and go onto the next name…
Man, now I am Johnsing for some deep fried turkey!!
