How NOT to Cook
By Mama Juggs • June 17th, 2007This whole household has been pretty busy since the last Harbinger article. We subsisted on take-out and sandwiches, with the occasional bowl of soup/chili or cereal. Oh, Papa rocked on some mashed potatoes but his pork chops were a little overcooked. He was totally forgiven, because I didn’t have to cook.
- TAKE OUT
Chinese ~ How can three people spend $73 on Chinese food? We ate it for four days!
Rotisserie Chicken ~ Publix is our FRIEND!
Shrimp Cocktail ~ Publix to the rescue again. Too much oregano and not enough Old Bay, but I still didn’t have to cook.
Pizza ~ Hey, the kid works at the Hut! We even get to taste-test the new menu items (watch for their new calzones).
McDonald’s *of course*
and Krystal *of course*
- SANDWICHES
Tuna ~ I don’t think I’ve ever made so much at one time. Eggs, celery and horseradish give it just a bit more OOMPH.
Liverwurst ~ With Swiss cheese, thinly sliced onion and horseradish mustard on toasted rye. Oh, HELL ya.
Egg Sandwiches ~ I scramble mine up and dress with lettuce, mayonnaise and cheese, Papa just makes a popped fried egg on buttered toast. Mine are prettier.
I apologize to my readers and to my family for my gross negligence, but have big plans for the next issue. Father’s Day is Sunday and I’m defrosting an eight pound pork loin as I write. That’s leftovers for a week!
