What would you do if you found pot in your Happy Meal?
By Lisa Risa • June 3rd, 2007Probably keep it, maybe? With this group that might be considered a bonus you didn’t have to pay for. Good times!
But a family in Ottawa, Illinois isn’t keeping it or laughing about it. They plan to sue McDonald’s after their daughter found a bag of Marijuana in her Happy Meal. I guess their boat came in and they decided not to miss it.
Keith and Andrea Irelan decided to take their three young children out for a afternoon picnic on May 14th. So, they went to their local McDonald’s and purchased 3 Happy Meals and their own meals, but it was after they made it to the park that their 8 year old daughter noticed she had received more then the Shrek toy in her box.
When Andrea asked her daughter what she had received her daughter replied, ‘A lighter, and another toy’. When her mother looked inside her box she was shocked to find not only the lighter her daughter mentioned, but a small marijuana pipe and a small bag of marijuana.
After contacting police an arrest was made in the case; Brandon Scott, the 17 year old son of the manager of the Ottawa McDonald’s. His explanation of the events leading up to this incident are a little interesting. Scott told police he had come into work for the day and forgot he had his marijuana and pipe in his pocket. He decided to hide the bag of weed, his lighter and the pipe in one of the Happy Meal boxes until he could get it at the end of his shift. Unfortunately for him though he forgot the box and left it where another employee could grab it and put the child’s food and toy into it. The employee was quickly throwing the contents in the box and never noticed the items that were in it.
McDonald’s issued an immediate apology over the incident, but the Irelan’s say that isn’t enough to make up for the pain and embarrassment they have had to go through on top of the effect they said the incident will have on their daughter and have planned to sue the McDonald’s corporation.
Another frivolous lawsuit? Or do you think they have a leg to stand on?

Bullshit.
I think that’s rediculous that they are going to sue. Seriously…
I hope she turns into a total pothead. That would rock!
I’m ordering the “happy” meal from now on, forever… It’s time for me to get lucky. Really. It’s TIME.
