Jerry Falwell Dead. Charles Darwin Rolls in Grave.
By Lisa Risa • May 20th, 2007Jerry Falwell, televangelist and founder of the Moral Majority, collapsed at his Liberty University office and died Tuesday May 15th. Most of Falwell’s life was spent building one of the first successful Christian empires. His early adoption of television in pursuit of converts and contributions unfortunately paved the way for the imitators who would follow him including the Bakers, remember them? Falwell may be remembered most famously for suggesting Tinky Winky’s triangle on the top of the Teletubby’s head was a symbol for the Gay and Lesbian community.
Tinky Winky could not be reached for comment yesterday.
The founder of the Moral Majority has often been called soulless for his views on gays and lesbians and his often outrageous take on subjects such as abortion, teen pregnancy, birth control and butting heads with Larry Flint when he went after the pornography industry. In 1989 he founded the Liberty University and on Tuesday he was discovered there without a pulse and pronounced dead. His previous pronouncement of insignificant has yet to be challenged.
Unfortunately, Falwell seems to have forgotten one of the seven deadly sins in his life like gluttony which seems to have directly contributed to his cardiopulmonary demise. Better’s the world over were disappointed by the cardiopulmonary demise as they had heart-attack as a top bet with methane explosion as a runner up favorite.
Matt Forman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force offered these condolences, if you could call them condolences, “Unfortunately, we will always remember him as a founder and leader of America’s anti-gay industry, someone who exacerbated the nation’s appalling response to the onslaught of the AIDS epidemic, someone who demonized and vilified us for political gain and someone who used religion to divide rather than unite our nation.”
Gabriel was over heard mumbling, “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out”.
