The Muchedumbre Harbinger
Started in August of 2006, the Muchedumbre Harbinger remains the single best internet based forum-specific publication in existence. Founded by a then tenuous agreement between crowd co., inc. and Jaffesalad Productions, the Harbinger exists for its own benefit, seeking to entertain its crazed staff and occasional reader.
The first volume of issues were met with unmatched gratuity and near-celebrity status effects. Few congregations were held in downtown Orlando’s more fashionable hotspots where the words “The Harb”, “The Bing”, and even “The Ger” were not thrown about like soft pizza dough. For every hater there were ten lovers, and fighters, willing to die for the freedom of their press. Yes, these were the salad days for this virtual fishwrap.
But as time went on, the columns began to slant more and more to the Agenda of the Editor. An entire page was spent discussing his video game fetish. The puzzles grew increasingly more difficult and mean, and the quality and quantity of the columns grew meh and sporadic. The Editor wisely tried to compensate by hiring everyone that read the Harbinger to work on the paper as a columnist or reporter, and circulation thrived. Even going so far as to bring in hired guns to do some of the dirty work. Of course they are the cheapest guns the paper could find but with profesional journalist Tawny Pirkicones and Sirius Spourts rounding out the staff.
But like all rollercoaster rides, the bolts on the Muchedumbre Harbinger’s cart were steadily loosening. Editor Jaffe was given the boot at a steamy toga party in the upper reaches of Deltona, presumably for his insistence on publishing “The Chart”, an act he regrets to this day, as now no less than 15 members of the board had time to download it before soberer minds stepped in and removed every last trace of it. Assistant to the Editor Gator_Jen was incriminated for “The Muchevivor Heist”, an elaborate scheme she concocted to fleece friends out of hundreds of dollars.
Throughout all of these scandals, The Publisher has remained steadfast and stoic and really, really good at his job.
It seemed as though the Harbinger was a fast-sinking ship on a one way ticket to File 404 town. The readers revolted, calling for the head of Jaffe for his continuous abuse and snarkliciousness. After throwing a massive party for his few remaining loyal staff members, Jaffe ran off into the night and claimed Sanctuary on a yahoo 360 blog.
The Paper then entered what is commonly referred to as “The
In the past several months, the paper has undergone tumultuous times, with the Editor abandoning his post and leaving the thankless task of editing the myriad columns to his Assistant and Publisher. Their reckless use of the English language gave way to a vicious and uncalled for revolt amongst the columnists, who went on to ostracize Calidave for his willingness to press on with his “Flounder’s TV Dinner” column. Upon the final issues of Volume 2
