I think every single town in Colorodo has one or a hundred micro-brewerys, most are not bad if you are a beer drinker, I have tried them but am just not a beer man, I will stick to my Svedka, lol, no hangover or after taste there. but it is wierd to go in to a cafe with thier own brewery on site

I picked up the Sam Adams Winter Classics last week.  A pretty good selection, but not everything is great in it.  I ddn't care for the Holiday Porter.

Of course, I'm not a real fan of Porters anyway, but this one, to my taste anyway, was particularly bad.

However, I did love the Cranberry Lambic.

I highly recommend this one, of course, I like those Belgian-like fruity ales.

My favorite seasonal summer time brew is back, Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.  This summer I will have to remember to stock up on this.

In related news, my first home brew batch of the year... fail.

I used the Mr Beer booster instead of sugar, but my booster had crystalized.  I didn't think it mattered because I figured it would just melt in the wort.  Apparently not so the beer didn't really ferment.

Now I have to dump out all this yeech and start again.

I can't decide whether brewing your own beer is the most or the least manly thing you could do.

I can argue for "most manly" because you start with some "ingredients" and, when you're done, you have produced beer! It is like testosterone alchemy! Also, to be in 100% total contol of the beer production process is manly to begin with.

I can argue for "least manly" because "manly" often includes "getting what you want with the least amount of time/energy expenditure". To go through this lengthy process in light of the information provided by MyBig above seems counter to that.

My taint is firmly lodged on the exact, geographic center of the fence on this one.

I've always considered it more manly to be willing to put in the work to get something rather than take the easy way out....

Are you guys really pretending that you are unfamiliar with the "manly" stereotype of going to extreme lengths to avoid lifting a finger to get beer or food, change the TV channel, etc.?

Ah....  Yeah I see what you mean, never really thought those types were men sorry.  Not sure how the white trash waste case became a stereotypical man but I guess it is funny on occasion.

Yeah, the thing about being in total control of the final brew is where we go wrong. Mere mortals don't know how in hell to make the beer they like.

I don't really put it on any sort of Manly <----->  Metrosexual axis, it's just a hobby.  Of course just buying beer is cheaper and less time consuming.  But hey, just check out the scores of the game in the paper rather than actually pay to go to the game, and buying your jersey.  Less time consuming and much cheaper.  This year, I didn't bother watching Survivor, I just read in the paper who the winner was after the season finale.  I saved many hours of what would otherwise be wasted time.
