So I got a shamwow for Father's day.  Upon receiving it I thought about giggling a little, but wisely stayed quiet.  I believe the wife paid around $20 for 2 big towels and a few smaller ones.

Anyway - I washed the car the other day and tried it out.  I thought it was basically a shami, but felt a little thicker.  All in all not a bad product.  I would probably give it a B+.  Maybe just a glorified shami, but like I mentioned feels a little thicker.

Curious if anyone has tried this product.

I've used them off and on for years - the synthetic chamois' that is, before the Sham-Wow was being sold.  Same basic response as you had, they work but not as good as a real one.  I carry one from an auto parts store in the HD all the time.

I got one a few months ago at SkyCraft on Fairbanks.  They had them for 99¢ each.  It worked pretty well.  When I went to wash it, though, the washer just kept pouring water in and pouring water in and pouring water in for about 3 hours.  The water level in the tub never got past the level of the ShamWow.  Odd...

Skycraft on Fairbanks is the ultimate "man-store" but doesn't necessarily exclude ladies of the fair sex!  If you can't find it ther then it probably doesn't exist!
