I thought that was enough to remind you that when I say "You" I'm not always meaning YOU...Lilmike.... you used to be able to pick out when I was saying You as in you...and you as in your party... but like I said...we're both a little rusty...

Right, I am a little rusty on this.  Will work on it.

exactly..... it was said and it is was retarded...and then I come along and read your Blog in which you aren't even phased by the choice... in fact  youu seemed a little bit OK with it..... and I was and still am shocked.

Actually, the bit about Alaska being close to Russia making up for her foreign policy was said by Cindy McCain!  I didn’t know about it until I watched her on This Week.   Crazy man…

But not to be outdone by Cindy McCain, John Kerry was on a few minutes later to defend Obama’s foreign policy experience.  It turns out that Obama’s world wide tour a few weeks ago counts as foreign policy experience!

So, all Palin has to do is go overseas for a week, and she will be the equal of Obama in foreign policy!  Awesome!  Thanks John Kerry!

But to your other point, I was surprised by the choice.  Like I said in my blog, I had never heard of her until Friday.  But yes, I admit I am a little bit OK with it so far.   It’s the type of pick that has generated a lot of interest, as this thread shows, and the pick is someone who seems really interesting.

That doesn’t mean it couldn’t blow up on McCain.  Some crazy story like the one Karidipity posted could come out.  You know the media won’t sit on it’s hands if there is even a hint that this story (or one like it) could be true, they will go after it full bore.  They won’t give her the same pass they gave Edwards, or Obama on his skeletons.

I know you don't care about the polar bears.... and neither did she when she sued the Gov't to get them off the endangered species list

I know you love drilling for oil in Alaska like she is also in support of, which of course has nothing to do with her hubby being an oilman...

I didn't think you were like her in that she can't stand the gay's and doesn't believe they have the right to visit their loveds one in the hospital.... but maybe I was wrong

I didn't know you wanted creationism in schools and a womans right to chose banned....

Pfft!  At the best, the best of times, I agree with maybe 50 to 60 percent of what my party stands for.

No, as far as giving a shit about polar bears, I do think they are cute as cubs and I want the species to survive, but I think putting them on the endangered species list was a back door attempt to legislate a global warming agenda, and I think from previous posts that you know what I think about that!  If the polar bear populations were declining markedly, that would be a different story.  But that isn’t the case.

Drilling?  Hell yeah!  I think I’ve made that position fairly clear in previous posts.  But I love this line of yours, “her hubby being an oilman…”  Priceless!  The guy was some sort of production operator, a seasonal worker, not JR Ewing!

I have not heard anything about her positions on gays.  I guess she stated that gays shouldn’t be allowed to visit their partners in hospitals?  You will have to bring me up to speed on that, but as I have blogged before, I’m all about civil unions and gays having all the legal rights that those entail.

And no, I don’t want creationism taught in schools, or abortion outlawed.  Because after all, only outlaws will have abortions.

But I have spent my entire adult life settling for 50 to 60 percent of agreement.  I guess you’ve been able to swallow your party’s platform, hook, line, and federally funded childcare.  So I guess you’ve been either lucky that your values perfectly mirror your party, or you’re just a good little soldier!

and most of all.... what I knew for a fact b/c you and had had been in agreement on it for months now...experience is an issue for you and your party...... and this little hottie falls even shorter on it than Obama does..but you're still tentative in your support

so maybe you're right...... maybe I don't 'understand' you...... since I cannot fathom why you would even be optimistically skeptical over this choice... But since Fox news is, I should have known...

really? after months if saying it against Obama..... can you now say it's only a straw man argument?  you can do that?

ummmm let me try....

straw man argument...

no... doesn't work huh......... well I can't prove Obama has more national experience.... b/c he doesn't... But Biden does... and with Biden on the ticket there is a combined 40 yrs experience vs 26 on McCain's ticket...

how about Judgment?  that's a biggie deal right?  whose judgment is better? Obama's for picking Biden? Or McCains for picking Palin?

hmmmmmmmm yeah I gotta go with Obama...

Yes, he is the one who will be taking the 1st day as an inexperienced guy vs McCain who would take it with experience... but Obama insured that if something happens to him..... we as a country are still safe and by your own admission, even safer because we'll have Joe Biden at  the helm......

McCain? again...not so much... his choice shows one thing and one  thing only.....he a panderer 1st and foremost and  really doesn't care wtf happens to the country should something happen to him and his little Alaskan fisherwoman with a BA in sports reporting gets to be leader of the most powerful country in the world...

say that a few times..... President Palin... and then come back and tell me you 'tentatively' agree with the pick

I thought I already explained my view of the experience issue on my other post.  On day one, McCain is ready, and on day one, Obama… not so much.  Actually, not at all.

Palin?  Not ready on day one.  On day 1,460, maybe so.  Of course we will have to see then.

Biden, ready on day one.  But if Obama stays in good health, it doesn’t matter until day 2,920.

I think Obama would be ready on day 1,460 too by the way, but he is not going to get that chance to get ready.

Really, you can spin it however you want, but your voting for the inexperienced top of the ticket, not me.  I think you must be having a hard time buying your own argument too.  Obama/Biden has a combined 40 years compared to McCain/Palin at 20 years, so that’s the most experienced?  In that case, if Obama had picked  Robert Byrd, with his 50 years in the senate, that would make them unstoppable!  And a great story too:  The black guy and former klansman, together on one ticket.  What a convention that could have been!

Oh, and I’m having a hard time saying, “President Obama.”

It’s tough man…

b/c the slap in the face pisses me off.....he could have picked a woman with experice and while that would have still be tokenism... it wouldn't have as blatant.... but this? This is just a ha-ha fuck you..... I don't need to go with qualification, I just need to go with someone who has a pussy....b/c all the stoopid women of the world will follow the sisterhood....

he doesn't even know the woman...... he talked to her once back in Feb.. once... HA!  that should go under the questionable judgment colum....Hell, atleast you're willing to get to know her before you jump and give your endorsement... and I think you would agree that that is the smart thing to do... but McCain didn't even do that.. so what kind of judgment does he have?  Jump 1st and think later?

yeah... that's the finger I want on the button....

on top of that.. to rub it in our faces.. he picked someone that couldn't be any more anti-Clinton if she tried..... another slap in the face....b/c it's an old white boys-club guy thinking cunts will follow cunts end of story..

But most of all .... it hearkens back to Post Civil War Restoration when the North not only forced blacks into southern political position, they used the most illiterate and unintelligent ones they could find just to rub it in....

and it surprises you that I was begging for a reason to stick with my party? huh.... maybe you don't understand me either?

and back at you babe... Palin now gives conservatives a reason to be happy in their votes for McCain.....and you know it.... you may not admit it, but you know it...

again... back at you........ unless of course you do agree in church before science, gays should die alone and you should decide what goes on in others bedrooms and are in 'lock-step' with someone even further to the right that you are....b/c if you don't agree and you aren't.. then what kind of march will you be making when you go to the polls in November?

Ahhh, now we get to the real issue.  I knew there had to be more to it.  I couldn’t imagine myself getting bent out of shape about who Obama picked for VP.  I had an idea of what I thought would be the smartest choice= Hillary.  That would have sealed the party cracks seamlessly.  Biden?  Really not a bad choice, but he is just a band aid on the party, however, the decision was a political one.  If Obama had picked someone like Dennis Kucinich, who despite his years in Congress would never be ready to be president, I would have been delighted!  There are no amount of days allowable that would make that loon ready to be the Prez.

If you think McCain’s choice of Palin is a slap in the face, or a big fuck you, well… sorry, but it’s not about you.

Here’s my 2 cent pop psychology angle on this:  You agree probably 95 to 100% with Obama’s positions, but you hated him for what he did to Hillary, your candidate, who on the margins, was more qualified than him, and had worked harder and longer to get to the point of running for President.  Obama just sort of popped on the national scene out of nowhere (like Palin maybe?). The media, who formerly had been a wholly owned subsidiary, of the Clintons, suddenly dropped the Clintons, Hillary included, like a handful of doo doo.  They dropped to their knees in praise of Obama, and suddenly, “the first black President,” Bill, is being portrayed as a racist by the MSM.

The media’s declaring that it’s over, even while Hillary was turning the tide in the primaries showed you what a raw deal she was getting, and since they were really not too far apart in delegates, I think somewhere in the back of your mind you held out hope that something would happen at the convention, the party would come to it’s senses, and Hillary would get the nomination.

Instead, the Obamaites made Hillary walk the plank, call an end to the roll call and bare her neck to the victor.  I thought it was unusually cruel at the time, but now I think Obama was on to something.  He needed to show the Hillaryittes that it was well and truly over.  Hillary had to be totally crushed and defeated to get all of the Hillary people to get with the program.

You used to joke about the Obama pod people, but Thursday night, you probably dragged that pod into the bedroom yourself, begging it to change you.

And it worked!

Now, the formerly inexperienced Obama is plenty experienced to be President!  You felt the inspiration, the hope and change… everything you had mocked previously, you have become.

I am looking forward to the weeks ahead when you start defending Obama on Ayres, and the CAC.  I’m really going to enjoy this!

ohhhhh ok... I see,  you subscribe to the '2 wrongs do make a right' theory.....

No, I subscribe to the "how in the fuck can people claim she's inexperienced when your top pick has spent less than 200 days in his elected position" theory.

ummm yeah, Obama? maybe he's not the best choice..

CORRECT!!

You know as well as I do that you don't want him in the oval office. You're willing to settle and it eats you up knowing it.

I'm amazed that you'd ignore BHO's lack of experience, but jump on Palin's. Is it because your choice for first woman isn't the one who will have the best shot at it? Is that why you feel the need to attack her?

lilmike's right, you have fallen in line like a good lil' soldier for Obama. Nice cult y'all have there, just be sure to not ever question him, I hear he doesn't like that.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Desperation. Sheer unadulterated desperation.

Wait. Can I say anything about adultery around or about McCain?

OK. She's a woman. She's got a vagina. He's sure he'll get Hillary's votes.

Or...all the other better Republican women (Hello? Kay Bailey Hutchinson?) laughed in his face and ran off.

Desperation. Sheer desperation....

I don't know about desperation. McCain may have just checked Obama or shot himself in the foot. November will tell which one is the proven theory.

It honestly doesn't surprise me anymore in this election with a woman suddenly coming out as the VP nomination.

If we were basing anything on the VP's population per state Delaware comes pretty close to Alaska's. 859,996 per 2006 records.

Has anyone ever been to Delaware? Coming from Jersey if you blink while you sneeze you'll be in Maryland when you open your eyes again.

Dark Horse people have always had a good run while in the White House. Well, a few anyways.

Give the Dark Horse a chance!

Exactly! People want to rip this woman apart before knowing anything about her or even hearing her speak. I guess their image of the republican party is old rich white guys, and anything outside of that they're not allowed to have.

Give the woman a chance. If she proves herself unworthy, then so be it.

She is a neophyte, an almost creationist (the whacky 6000 year old earth kind), she's under investigation after investigation for oil drilling stuff.... it just goes on.

My personal argument against her is the creationism thing being taught in schools. Science is not a democratic endevour. There is no alternate. Evolution is true the same as gravity is true. There is no "Alternate" theory of gravity..... or evolution.

Right, I am a little rusty on this.  Will work on it.

 Kiss

I didn't see her say it...... I saw the idiot from Fox say it.....

yes.... it is crazy

Pfft!  At the best, the best of times, I agree with maybe 50 to 60 percent of what my party stands for.

same here.....

No, as far as giving a shit about polar bears, I do think they are cute as cubs and I want the species to survive, but I think putting them on the endangered species list was a back door attempt to legislate a global warming agenda,

backdoor the global warming agenda?

what 'agenda' would that  be?  Conservation?

HA! A conservative....... who disagrees with being.. yep, conservative.... LOL

Drilling?  Hell yeah!  I think I’ve made that position fairly clear in previous posts.

of course you are...... you want immediate gratification... which you wouldn't get for years anyway.. and your happy with a stop-gap instead of an actual fix.... as your stance on GW shows.

in that regard......she is your savior

I have not heard anything about her positions on gays.  I guess she stated that gays shouldn’t be allowed to visit their partners in hospitals?  You will have to bring me up to speed on that, but as I have blogged before, I’m all about civil unions and gays having all the legal rights that those entail.

In 2006 while running for governor, she said she would support a ballot initiative that denied benefits to same-sex couples, but her first veto as governor shot down such a bill. (Palin said she vetoed it because the Alaska Supreme Court deemed it unconstitutional, not because she supports gay-marriage rights.)

per Time online..

here's Another..... seems she got into some trouble for her veto too... so she had to make sure she clarified that she really does hate the gays and will not give them any rights..

I haven't be able to swallow either party hook, line and sinker... but I do find it funny that you would point out how great it is that you only follow them 50-60% of the time and then mock me for being the good little solider who votes for who you think I believe in 100% of the time...

hmmmmm who is the real 'good little solider'....  the one who 100% believes in their party and votes with them b/c of it? or the one who believes in them only 50% of the time and votes with them anyway?

I thought I already explained my view of the experience issue on my other post.  On day one, McCain is ready, and on day one, Obama… not so much.  Actually, not at all.

Oh, and I’m having a hard time saying, “President Obama.”

once again.... say it with me

H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y....

It was an issue until it knocked on your door... and then? Not so much...

If you think McCain’s choice of Palin is a slap in the face, or a big fuck you, well… sorry, but it’s not about you.

Oh I know..... if I want the party that is about me.. I have to go with Obama....  Wink

but you are wrong about that anyway..... Palin is exactly and only FOR ME... a disgruntled HRC supporter..

problem is, I don't vote with my vagina or as Sam Bee called it, my love pita

Here’s my 2 cent pop psychology angle on this:  You agree probably 95 to 100% with Obama’s positions, but you hated him for what he did to Hillary, your candidate, who on the margins, was more qualified than him, and had worked harder and longer to get to the point of running for President.  Obama just sort of popped on the national scene out of nowhere (like Palin maybe?). and here's your 2 cents back...

do you really think I agree with anything 95-100% of the time? HA!

but really..... the MSM and Dean did shit on the Clintons... that I agree 100% on Grin

You used to joke about the Obama pod people, but Thursday night, you probably dragged that pod into the bedroom yourself, begging it to change you.

And it worked!

Now, the formerly inexperienced Obama is plenty experienced to be President!  You felt the inspiration, the hope and change… everything you had mocked previously, you have become.

dragged it to bed, begging it to change me?

now that hurts....

I don't 'like' Obama anymore today than I did last week.... I loathe what he did to the Clintons... I loathe that he counted caucus votes instead of primary votes.... I loathe that he bumped delegates that publicly said they were going to vote for HRC... and I loathe that if he loooses in Nov, he will make sure the Clintons are tarred, feathered and run out of town for it...

it's the party..... it's watching what he can inspire ppl to do.... it's the hope that this time it really is rain on my shoulder and not piss....

I do not agree with him anymore than you agree with McCain..... but the both of us will fall in line and vote for the party that we support the most...

the difference is......I see what my guy can get us to accomplish under him...... you can't say that. You can't say that the country and the world will be inspired to move forward to a better place b/c of McCain or Palin....

it's a blessing that Gustav hit when he did.... everyone can cancel their appearances now and not look they are running from McCain... the RNC can say "Gustav" instead of having to be embarrassed that the can't inspire  the ppl the way Obama and the Clintons did..  I told you.. Rove=antichrist

Sure.... I lol at the adulation Obama gets.... I still think it's a sickness..... but I can't deny that he can get the ppl inspired enough to actually do something....

The Pickens plan is a great example.... I think it's a brilliant idea.... But it is going to take alot of the right ppl in charge to get it up and running...McCain has never voted for anything to do with windmills.... and he won't when he's POTUS.... Obama will inspire ppl to get it done...

I guess tho your against that b/c it'll backdoor GW in and you won't get your precious drilling time in.... but  I for one would like to get off the oil addiction.....I would like mileage standards raised, I would like the same health insurance as congress gets for free at a reduced cost, I would like equal pay for equal work, I would like to decide for myself what to do with my body and I would like my kids to learn faith in church and science in school..

so if believing the man I loathe can get this all done b/c he has the freakish ability to get ppl to do things makes me a pod person..... then 'pod-me'...

ya think that's like getting 'kinged' in checkers?

In November 2006, then gubernatorial candidate Sarah Palin declared that she would not support an abortion for her own daughter even if she had been raped.

Granting exceptions only if the mother's life was in danger, Palin said that when it came to her daughter, "I would choose life."

At the time, her daughter was 14 years old. Moreover, Alaska's rape rate was an abysmal 2.2 times above the national average and 25 percent of all rapes resulted in unwanted pregnancies. But Palin's position was palatable within the state's largely Republican political circles.

Now that she's John McCain's vice presidential candidate, Palin's abortion policy (among others) is undergoing renewed scrutiny. The Alaska Republican has long declared herself pro-life. And her credentials on the topic make her the belle of the ball among religious conservatives. But Democrats and abortion rights advocates say her stance, specifically her unwillingness to grant her own child a choice to end a pregnancy induced by rape, is drastically at odds with public opinion -- even among many Republicans.

"This is absolutely outside the mainstream. Even in South Dakota they rejected [outlawing abortion in cases of rape] in '06 because it has gone too far and everyone can identify that in a case of rape or incest a woman should have the chance to make the decision with their family or doctor," said Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro Choice America. "Women voters are going to reject both her and John McCain, and I think we see it specifically because we reach out to Republicans and independent pro-choice women. They live in the suburbs and exurbs. They are very much part of the mainstream America. And woman in general will reject that ticket."

Palin makes no secret of her abortion views. A member of the group Feminists for Life, she told the Alaska Right to Life Board in 2002 that she "adamantly supported our cause since I first understood, as a child, the atrocity of abortion." In an Eagle Forum Alaska questionnaire filled out during the 2006 gubernatorial race, Palin again stated that she is against abortion unless a doctor determined that a mother's life would end due to the pregnancy.

"I believe that no matter what mistakes we make as a society," she wrote, "we cannot condone ending an innocent's life."

But it's not just abortion policy that has Democrats up in arms over Palin. In that same 2006 questionnaire, the soon-to-be governor said she would fund abstinence-only education programs in schools. "The explicit sex-ed programs," she added, "will not find my support." The stance, which reflected the priorities of the GOP, nevertheless led to an incredulous editorial in the Juneau Empire.

"Abstinence may be a laudable goal, but failing to educate teenagers about how to protect themselves from disease or unintended pregnancy is tragically misguided. According to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, abstinence-only programs do not reduce sexual activity, teen pregnancy or sexually transmitted disease. Every day 10,000 U.S. teens contract a sexually transmitted disease, 2,400 get pregnant and 55 contract HIV. Unintended pregnancies happen to Republicans, Democrats and people of all faiths."

While Palin's positions have drawn the ire and concern of the pro-choice and progressive community, they are largely -- save abortions in the case of rape -- in line with John McCain's own stances. The Senator is against federal funding of birth control and sex education. He has called for the overturning of Roe v. Wade and received a zero rating from NARAL. Once, aboard the Straight Talk Express, McCain was asked if he supported the use of contraception or President Bush's abstinence-only education program to stem the spreading of AIDS.

"After a long pause, he said, 'I think I support the president's policy.' Does he believe that contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV? After another long pause, he replied, "You've stumped me."
