Several possible solutions from "Don't Try This At Home!" (SomaCow Press)
- Holding eye open with one hand, flick cigarette lighter with other hand. Looking down over lighter, keep flame within one inch of eye for 20 seconds, allowing the lens to soften for easy removal.
- Attach the ends of two icepick handles together with rubber band, like chopsticks. Pry up one side of lens and grasp firmly between icepicks. Remove with a brisk upward motion.
- With eyes open widely , have a sharp blow applied to the back of your head. Warning: do not attempt this over the sink as lens may fall into drain.
- Apply a thin layer of Soop-R-Glue to surface of lens. Press a pencil eraser firmly against the lens until glue sets. Twist pencil to remove lens.
- In a large, shallow basin, combine non-abrasive (so as not to scratch your lens) bathroom cleaner and water. Fully immerse face in basin with eye open for at least 15 minutes. Lens will shrivel and can then be easily removed.
I am not convinced that every solution above is practical.
