I cropped this out of that old pic I scanned and fixed it up a bit…or something.

Yesterday someone sent me a link to some neat pics. The guy uses lego people as subjects in his pics, going so far as to reproduce some famous images using lego blocks. I would give you a link so you could check them out, but I don’t have it handy. Maybe someone will leave the link in the comments (hint hint). Anyway, the guy was nice enough to take pictures of setups for his pics and it gave me some ideas. So today when I pulled into the drive through at MickeyDonalds I decided to order a happy meal so that I could get a new model…

How about that grassy knoll?
I went to the woods again this morning. I find it a little be frustrating cause I want to capture what I see, but when I take the picture it just doesn’t convey stuff right. The problem is that camera can’t see the full range of colors. Our eyes can see a big huge bunch of different shades of green…the camera pretty much sees green. There just isn’t enough contrast for the camera to make out the interesting bits. Part of the problem is light. To get the interesting shots you have to get there very early in the morning, and the park doesn’t open till 8 so I guess I will have to wait till winter.
So lacking the light to capture the big picture I have to look for interesting details…like this flower.

I am back to playing with lighting again. For this shot I point the flash at the ceiling and cranked the power all the way up. It kind of makes the whole room into a soft box. The effect has to do with the “apparent size” of the light. The idea is that the light hits the ceiling and bounces off, so the “size” of the light source is the entire ceiling. I think it is kind of neat.
