My coffee table is an old chest. I am not sure how old it is but it is pretty old, and it actually isn’t so great as a coffee table since the top is rounded. I guess it is really more of a thing to make the middle of the room not look empty…
Anyway…here is a picture of the latch.

Oh…something about using a flash instead of my “hot lights”…the flash makes my eyes all blinky.
There is something off about this picture, but I can’t quite put my finger on it…

So I have been doing a lot of reading so that I can learn how to use this lighting setup effectively. One of the things I read was about bringing out the texture in something that is essentially flat. So tonight I figured I would try it out.
Lighting is a big big part of photography. Pretty much every picture you have seen posted here was taken with “available light”. In other words the lighting was done with just household lights. For my “studio” pics I have been using spot light type things that I am able to control to some extent, but they don’t have all that much power in terms of the light needed to take pictures. In other words I still have to use a tripod.
Well this week I took a big step forward in lighting. I received an “off camera lighting kit”. The kit contains a flash, a stand, and one of them fancy umbrellas along with some other bits and pieces. So I should be able to do some pretty neat stuff.
For now here is one of the picture I took today while I was playing with the setup…
Last night I had the pleasure of joining the crew from Just Push Play for a live broadcast from Hard Knocks Orlando. Hard Knocks is a pretty neat place. When you walk in the door it looks like a nice LAN center…lots of gaming going on. When you look a little closer you see something else…they have guns!
Along with the LAN center, they have two 12,000+ square-foot combat arenas. That means they have two big rooms where you can go and play war games.
Last night was a special event to train people for the inevitable zombie attack. The training consisted of two separate mission where trainees had to accomplish some task while not getting their brains eaten by zombies positioned throughout the combat arenas. All in all it was a lot of fun. If you want to learn more about zombies attacks check out Z.E.D.
So this is presently the last of the bathroom mini-series I am sure that I will be using the marble vanity again, but I am not going to promise to use bathroom stuffs…course I think a glossy black tile will give the same kind of effect and I wouldn’t have to deal with so many extra reflective surfaces…
So it looks like I am in the middle of a mini-series. “Shots from the can” or something like that. I really liked how my locked in a bathroom picture came out and since I didn’t really do the exercise properly so I figured I would take a few more pictures. I doubt I will get to 50, but I can foresee at least a few more.
