We are lucky here in Florida. No not cause it is fucking balls hot all summer. We are lucky cause we get cool sunsets. I pulled over to the side of the road on the way home from work to take this picture. I really would have loved to get some water in the foreground, but I knew if I didn’t stop and take it when I did I would end up missing it.
I went to the store today looking for beans. I stood in front of the bulk bins and was a bit disappointed. They had lots of bulk bins, but for the most part the beans looked pretty boring. So I resolved to come home and steal some from the wife’s stash, but as we made our way through the store my eyes fell upon something interesting. A bag full of beans…lots of different beans. In fact it has thirteen different kinds of beans. So dropped it in the cart.
When I got home I opened the bag and noticed a lot of white…way too much white. I am thinking that the white beans must be the cheapest. Anyway I hand selected every bean in this picture…sort of.
I got this legume shot that I am putting together in my head, but since all the dried bean things we have in the house ‘belong’ to my wife I may have to go hit up the bulk bins for my own supplies. So until I pull that shot together here is a teaser…
So how about something a bit abstract. I got this idea from a friend who sent me a similar picture. I am not going to say much about it cause I want to see if anyone can figure out what it is.
So they opened an Ikea in Orlando today. It is kind of on my way home so I figured I would pop in and check it out. Traffic really didn’t seem to be any worse than it is normally in that area. Actually it might have been better than it normal. Once inside it wasn’t too big of a deal. There were a lot of people in the store, but the place is so fucking huge the people are mostly all spread out. I picked up a cheap shelf and didn’t even have to wait in line to check out. The only issue I really had was that I didn’t get a hotdog. See the way they packaged the shelf made it a little awkward to handle, and once I got to the car I didn’t feel like going back in…
So I am waiting for this thing, and I got nothing to do. So I grab my camera and look through the pictures I had already taken that day…both of them. I desperately needed more pictures to look at. So I shoot a few pictures of the first thing I see…my shoe. I also took some pictures of a rock wall that was behind me. The shoe pic turned out to be the more interesting of the “boredom pictures”.
I am by no means a numismatist, but I have a few coins. Most of these are fifty cent pieces and bicentennial quarters given to me by old people. When I was a kid old relatives or friends of relatives would give us coins as a gift or something. My folks would tell me that I should save the coins cause they were “special”…so I have saved them for 25-30 years at least. The problem is I don’t know how long I am supposed to save them.
Well they made for a neat pic…
This is a buffalo made out of nails…well part of a buffalo made out of nails. The top of his head part.
And this is a moose…well the nose of a moose. I think it might be made out of cut nails.
Today my daughter and I went to the Disney Art Festival thingy. It is sort of an annual tradition for us. My daughter is an artist. Lately she has been doing mostly Manga style drawing and some water colors, but she has an appreciation for all types of art. Today she really connected with the folk art stuff that was sponsored by the House of Blues.
I talked to a few photographers today about the move to getting paid for their work. I think for the moment I am on the right track, by just sharing my shots with people. So for now I am just going to keep taking pics and putting them online and try to work on getting some people to buy a print here and there.
Anyway I got few interesting abstract shots of a couple different sculptures. For whatever reason the sculptures that I was drawn to photograph were all big chunky things made out of metal. Tonight we will start with this “hand”.
Oh..and here is the other “hand”.
Like I said last night I started thinking about a Skittle pic while I was still unwrapping Starbursts, but once the Starburst pic was out there I got an immediate request for a Skittles pic. I bet you will never guess who asked for it. There was also a mention of some type of a food series. I knew that my vision for that shot wasn’t going to fit in the “series”.
This one, on the other hand, does fit…
