Happy Halloween! I have always loved Halloween, and this year I went all out on my costume.
I was pretty concerned that it would be a very popular costume because of the movie and stuff, but I didn’t see anyone else wearing anything close. I don’t think anyone else could have pulled it off as well as I did…if I do say so myself. You don’t even want to know how much time I put into making this bitch. I don’t even want to talk about the wings…those fucking wings! Anyway I think it all came together pretty fucking great.
How you think I did?

I was crazy busy this past weekend and didn’t get a chance to pick up a pumpkin for the carving. So last night I figured I would run over to Target and pick one up. Can you believe that two days before Halloween there wasn’t a single pumpkin in the Target. They didn’t even have any pumpkin shaped veggies…or fruits.
This forced me to go to the evil Walsmart on the way home to pick up cheap pumpkins made in China. I didn’t really notice anything in particular that is wrong with the China pumpkin, but it is prolly full of lead paint and shit, so I don’t think I will be chewing on it.

Like I was saying last night we went out to dinner. We went to a place at the Grand Floridian hotel over there on Disney Property. If you haven’t been there, the theme is a turn of the century grand Florida hotel. To help set the mood they have old trinkets and toys placed around the lobby. You know stuff from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
Anyway one of the things is an old barber pole. I guess that is kind of redundant isn’t it, talking about old stuff and calling it old. I mean really how many times do you need to say old, to establish that something is old. Cause old is old right? Now where was I…I must be getting old cause I keep forgetting stuff…
Oh yeah! Black and White! That makes it look older! OK not really, but it does extenuate the cracks and stuff.
There are also a few pictures of a toy ferris wheel…here.

I was out late tonight and I am pretty tired so I don’t have a lot to say, but here is a cool pic that I took tonight.

I took a trip to the jungle today to get this picture for you. I have mosquito bites all over my body. I hope you people appreciate what I put myself through to bring you these pictures…
OK I am lying.
I took this last weekend at Animal Kingdom. I finally found a good shot to show the depth of this new conversion.

Tonight you get to sample yet another failure. It really bugs when something doesn’t work out, but sometimes it is for the best.
See I tried to convert this photo to B&W but it just looked flat…in other words it was a big fat failure.
Oh yeah this is another UBO (unidentified botanical object).

I sat down tonight to try another B&W conversion with the new technique, so I grabbed this picture and converted. But no matter what I did I could not make the B&W look as good as the color version. I guess that means that colors are what make this photo interesting.
Another interesting thing about this picture is that I used natural lighting. I don’t get to do that very often in the “studio” since most of my studio time is in the evening.
Oh yeah…I think this is a pretty decent “still life”.

OK…you got me, there is no fizzing here, I just like saying “effervescent”. Say it “effervescent”…just do it, jeez. I don’t know why you have to be so difficult sometimes. I swear it is almost like dealing with my wife.
Anyway, I am reading a book about Photoshop that is geared specifically towards digital photographers. Tonight I was reading about a different way to convert a photo to black and white, so I figured I would give it a try with this flower picture. Then after I converted it to B&W I tried making it look a little more sepia. I like the way this technique works so I am going to be looking for some more pics to play with.

And now for something completely different…
OK, you got me it isn’t completely different, but it different. I like all the contrasts in this photo. Color and texture and stuff. I know a guy I might be able to get a candy dish from for anyone who can tell me the exact location of this picture.

I think that I am going to need to get a book on flowers. Cause I don’t like having a picture of a cool looking flower like this one and not know what to call it. It may be one of the most interesting flowers I have ever seen.
Another thing I find interesting about this shot is the leaf along the bottom. I like how sharp the edge is…
