The other day I mentioned that I was trying to think of ideas for stuff to stick in the lightbox, and somacowgeoff suggested a glass of ice water. So today I figured I would give it a try, but as I filled the glass with ice I decided to fill the glass with coke instead of water. Cause well…coke was sent to us by the god almighty to quench the thirst of the masses…or something.
Man that is a beautiful site…makes my mouth water just looking at the picture. What a glorious god he (or she) must be to provide us with this most wonderful of beverages.

Today I was just snapping pics of stuff that I thought could possibly make for interesting photos. Really not sure if they would “work” or not. Well I think this one worked.
Know what it is? Well do you?
Come on just take a guess…
OK, give up?
It is a light fixture thing in The Land at Epcot. I think they are supposed to look a bit like plane wings to tie in with the Soarin’ thing. Anyway, so I did like the pic but something was bothering me about it. I took the pic “on the fly” so to speak, so it wasn’t perfectly composed and the windows in the background were angled. I around with rotating the pic to straighten the windows and that “fixed” it for me.

How about a two-fer…another water falling thing.

So…it’s corn. I have no fucking idea what to say about this pic, but for some reason I like it. I don’t even know exactly what it is I like. Maybe it reminds me of being a kid and picking fresh corn from our garden. Man that is good stuff…walk out in the back yard and pick a mess of corn (mess that is some gardening term I think)…anyway pick the mess of corn and shuck it, toss it in the pot of boiling water and get down to eating. Like 30 minutes from picking it to eating it.
You know what is better than fresh corn? Fresh tomatoes! I have a very hard time eating store bought tomatoes. Growing up with a garden full of tomatoes will spoil you. Last fall we went to visit my parents and they happened to have some tomatoes still on the vine. It was great to introduce my kid to fresh picked tomatoes. It was great to stand over the sink with my daughter and eat tomatoes right out of the garden.
Man I wish I had one right now!

How about something slightly different today. Two pics!!
OK technically it is the same pic, but two different uh…hmm…what’s the word I am looking for…perspectives. Well that isn’t exactly right, fuck man I hate when this happens. Anyway, it is the same pic, but one is as it came off the camera, the other is converted to black and white. I am not sure exactly why I clicked on the convert to black and white button, but I did.
It is fascinating to me what taking away the color does to the picture, but…BUT the colors in the picture are so great it is a shame to take them away…so I decided to post both of them. I would love to hear what you think about “what” the conversion does to the pic…what do you notice in B&W that you don’t see in the color pic.
Go here to get to the larger versions.

So I am still going through the pictures from my outing to Epcot…it takes a bit of time to go through 288 pictures. That is what I love about taking digital pics…I can shoot a shit load of pictures and if they suck just throw them away. Well hardly ever delete any of them unless they are really fucked cause sometimes looking at a picture with “different eyes” you can see something there that you didn’t see before.
Another trick is to look for the picture within the picture. If you take a 5 megapixel pic it is easy to crop out a decent sized pic for posting to the web or email. Like all the pics I have been putting online are less than a megapixel. I resize them to that size cause it is better for downloading and stuff, but the point is you can use all the megapixels that your camera gives you or something.
For example I shot this pic horizontal, but looking at it it seemed to want to be vertical. So I cropped it in a way that made it more vertical.

So I have this pic…it is a pretty cool, and I would love to right some funny story to go with it. Something that does the interestingness (that is a real fucking word…seriously look it up)…anyway this pic deserves more than what I have to give it. I think I am too tired to be creative enough with my words…so I guess I will just tell you what it is.
It is the EAC…you know the EAC from Finding Nemo…that fish movie. The EAC is the current that the sea turtles rode on like super highway. I wonder how they came up with making the turtles surfer dudes. What about sea turtle says “surfer dude”? OH well it doesn’t matter cause it was funny…maybe even the best part of the movie. OK so how did I get a pic of the EAC since it is in Australia…and underwater and stuff? Well obviously it isn’t the real EAC it is the fake one at Epcot. Wait I am not supposed to tell you it is fake am I…just like the mouse with over sized head is real too… So I am riding on the EAC inside a huge fucking clam shell, not sure how I was able to breathe and stuff, must be part of that Disney magic.
Anyway, here is a pic of some turtles riding the EAC…

Mmm butter…but it’s not that kind of butter we are talking about today. We are talking about the butters you get when you grow up a pillar. You know flying butters…
I went through some of the pics from the “butterfly garden” and I think this one is pretty good. I think there a couple other decent shots but I picked the monarch to go with the pillar pic from yesterday. (Uh yeah that was a monarch pillar…)
Notice that you can see his (or her…sorry…jesus fuck with the feminists shit already) tongue sticking into the flower.

I really needed to take some pictures, so I went over to the flowers and the gardens thingy at the Epcot. They have this gazebo like screen room setup in the middle of a sidewalk where they planted a bunch of flowers and dumped a few dozen butterflies in there and let them go at it. So I am thinking maybe I can get a good shot of a butterfly since they are confined to this small space.
Well…even in a confined space it is still a bit tricky to get them pose for a picture. I think I might have a few decent shots, but I still need to go over them a bit more. When I was there I realized something a bit unexpected. I am not sure why I didn’t think of it, I guess I was just being short sighted…like most of the people walking through. If you slow down and look a little closer…the whole fucking place is crawling with caterpillars. Just sitting there gnawing away at the plants right under our noses. The thing is once you start looking around you can see there are chrysalises…(chrysali?) hanging around in there too. Sure there are two little house shaped boxes full of chrysalises, but I figure those have been placed there by staff. For example…there is a chrysalis hanging high up on the structure of gazebo.
So I am not really sure why it wasn’t obvious to me that there would be caterpillars there, but there are…
