When you take a picture a certain way with certain settings you get part of the picture in focus and part of it out of focus (OOF). When you get an OOF area that is “smooth” they say this is good bokeh. In order to get good bokeh, you have to have a lens that is capable of producing it. Typically this is a “fast lens”…a lens with a large aperture. The lens I bought recently is one of these “magical” lens that can produce good bokeh…
It is hard to describe what good bokeh is, but it pretty much looks like this…
